Cemeteries played a key role in the fight to contain Ebola outbreak that began in Sierra Leone in 2014. The traditional burial practice of washing bodies by hand was banned in order to prevent the disease spreading, families were unable to visit loved ones. For some families it may never be possible to find out where a relative are buried. The overgrown fauna that strangles the graveyards combined with the Ebola treatment centers that have been eerily abandoned create a haunting legacy to the horrors of the past.
